On 24 Oct 09 , Senior Citizen Executive Committee interest groups, Chinese Reading Group and Lian Gong (Qi Gong) group organised a joint one day tour to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall and The Marina Barrage. 80 senior citizens participated
十月二十四日，金文泰乐龄组，读书会和练功十八法小组联会主办一日遊到孫中山记念館和滨海水坝及蔡厝港菜园 。共八十乐龄人士参於。

Clementi Senior Citizen Activities

Clementi Senior Citizen Executive Committee organised a one-day tour covering the Battlebox at Fort Caning Park. 80 senior citizen participated. They were shown the video clips of the World War II when Japanese attacked and bombed Singapore during the Chinese New Year on 15 Feb 1942. They were briefed on the history of WWII. The battlebox was an underground command bunker of the British Military Far East Command. It captured the last moment when General Percival decided to surrender which put Singapore under the torturous rule of the Japanese for 3 yrs 8 months until Japanese surrendered on 15 Aug 1945.

The group also visited the Qian Hu fish farm and farm at Chua Chu Kang.

History Of Clementi 金文泰历史

Clementi and the roads therein are named after Sir Cecil Clementi Smith, Governor of the Straits Settlements from 1887 to 1893. The governor was an accomplished Chinese scholar. Among his achievements during his stint in office were laws brought into force to control secret societies in Singapore.
He was also responsible for the building of Kallang Airport, largest in SEA at that time and he also officiate the opening of Clifford Pier

Senior Citizen Singing Classes At Clementi

Clementi CC Senior Citizen Executive Committee Members had organised many Singing Classes.

The Classes are held as follows :

1. Cantonese : Every Thurs 7.30pm to 9.30 pm
2. Mandarin Classical Songs Singing : Every Friday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm
3. Strength Training Workshop Singing Group : Every Forthnight on Sunday from 11am to 1200hrs. Follow by singing

One-Day Tour -- 28 Jun 09

Senior Citizen Committee organised one day tour to MacRitchie Reservoir, Buangkok Village and Chua Chu Kang Farm Market. Members of SCEC also organised games,singing and explaining the history of places of visit.

VISIT TO KANGXI EXHIBITION

Clementi CC Mandarin Reading Group orgnised a visit to Kangxi Exhibition at the Museum. The exhibition showcase some of the clothings and battle gears worn by the famous Qing Dynasty Emperor.

Kangxi is one of the greatest Chinese Empror in China whose legacy and works continued till present days such as the Great Chinese Dictionary.

The Group continue to visit Fort Caning Park, another historical site

The Senior Citizen of Clementi formed various interest groups to promote active ageing activities for senior citizen of Clementi. They performed during functions organised by Senior Citizen Executive Committee.

金文泰#大家唱#乐齡組歌唱班由林廷桦老师义务教导乐齡人士一些歌唱技巧及唱精点成名曲,文艺歌曲和认识歌谱.时间过得真快,不知不觉己教了将近十年.由当初的十几位学员到如今己超过五十多位.课室也将容納不了.学员们也进步了许多.就希望可以多点出外话动,以增进社区的活动交流.


这个歌唱班是每个星期三晚上七点三十分至九点三十分.

Shanghai Lian Gong Competition

Two members from Clementi CC Lian Gong Group joined the team led by Singapore Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa Association to participate in the competition at Shanghai. The team comprises of instructors and assistant instructors from various Lian Gong Groups in Singapore. The team won one gold and two silver medals

Clementi CC Mandarin Reading Group participated in various forum and seminar organised by National Library Board. A prominent Taiwan reading group facilitator was invited to conduct training seminar to share her experience and method in organising reading
